Taman Ujung is one of the tourist destinations in the eastern part of the island of Bali, with a beautiful view of the park, with a large fish pond that surrounds the heritage building of the ancient Karangasem Kingdom which was built by the King of Karangasem for relaxation or a meeting place in his time. Unujung Park is located in Tumbu Village, Karangasem District, Karangasem-Bali Regency, located approximately 5 km from Amapura City, where it is very strategically located on the beach side and has many springs around it. History Of Taman Ujung

Taman Ujung or better known to the locals as Taman Ujung Sukasada, was built by King Karangasem during the reign of I Gusti Bagus Jelantik in 1909-1945 which was titled Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut Karangasem. Taman Ujung itself began to be built in 1919 and was inaugurated in 1921. Where in the construction process was also involved an architect from the Netherlands, named Van Den Hentz and an architect from China, namely Loto Ang. The construction of this palace as a resting place and to entertain important guests such as kings, foreign chief executives who visited the Karangasem Kingdom. And Taman Ujung is referred to as an example of cultural acculturation that is harmonious between traditional Balinese architecture with European and Chinese architecture. Based on the results of archaeological-historical research, it is known that Balinese architecture is seen in its decoration motifs, namely in the form of puppet stories and other motifs. While Dutch architecture can be seen in the shape of the building in the indicis style. The entrance gate, the octagonal pool, and the Round Bale (Bale Bengong), represent Chinese-style architecture, where the blend is clearly seen in the Gili Park building.

Good to Know About Taman Ujung

On the most tip of the highest level of this complex of Ujung Water Palace, we will find a great statue of “Warak” (rhinoceros). Beneath the warak there is a Bull statue. From this high place we will see a marvelous view of sea, hills with lush and green forest, the beauty of Mount Agung combined with the green terraced rice fields.

Famous for its beautiful garden scenery, with large fish ponds surrounding the building, Taman Ujung is one of the mascots of tourism in the eastern part of the island of Bali. The splendor of this park was destroyed by the eruption of Mount Agung in 1963 and exacerbated by a major earthquake that occurred in 1979. However, restoration efforts have been made to restore the glory of this park complex, by holding reconstruction and revitalization projects, although not as grandiose as they used to be. Overall the buildings on the Taman Ujung site or Taman Sukasada Ujung consist of 3 ponds, 3 gates, building Bale Kapal, Bale Lanjuk, Bale Kambang, Bale Bundar, Bali Gili, and Bale Warak. There are three large and safe ponds in the park, and in the center of the northernmost pool, there is a main building connected by two bridges. While on the west side of the pond, in a rather high place, there is a circular building, called "Bale Bengong" from this place we will be able to see an amazing view of the sea, hills with lush and green forests, the beauty of Mount Agung combined with green terraced rice fields and the beauty of this park itself. Based on information written on the official website of the Ministry of Education and Culture's Cultural Heritage, the ownership status of the park has been inherited to the heirs of the Puri Karangasem family. Therefore, the status of Taman Ujung is a privately owned park, it's just that public visitors are still allowed to enter.
